Amman - Arab Today

Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Nasser Judeh, and France's special envoy to the Middle East peace process, Pierre Vimont, discussed efforts to support and advance the peace process in the Middle East.

During the meeting, Vimont highlighted the results of his recent tours and visits to a number of capitals to prepare for an international peace conference to be held in Paris before the year ends, Petra news agency reported.

He also highlighted the conference's general framework, its objectives, consultations and the ongoing preparations for holding it at the foreign ministers' level.

Judeh stressed the importance of France's role in supporting peace efforts, saying Jordan supports this role and France's efforts to revive the peace process.

The foreign minister reiterated Jordan's firm stance that calls for the importance of re-launching serious, effective and time-specified negotiations that would eventually lead to implement the two-state solution and establishing an independent Palestinian state with sovereignty over the fourth of June 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The French envoy stressed the importance of Jordan's role and efforts, led by Jordan's King Abdullah II, at all levels to achieve peace and stability, voicing France's keenness on coordination and consultation with Jordan regarding the peace process and the efforts made in this regard.
