Abdullah meets US Secretary of State

Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, has met Rex Tillerson, US Secretary of State.

The meeting, which was held in Washington, touched on joint cooperation and strategic partnerships between the UAE and the United States, and means of boosting them in various fields, including economy, trade, security, military and defence in the interest of both countries and peoples.

The two sides discussed a number of regional and international issues of common interest, especially developments in Yemen, Syria, Iraq and Libya, as well as the importance of enhancing joint cooperation in the fight against terrorism and extremism in all its forms.

Shaikh Abdullah stressed that the UAE and the US are bound by strong ties and strategic partnerships, highlighting that these ties are continuously developed thanks to the support of the leadership of both countries and their keenness to push them forward for the good of the people of the two countries.

Tillerson welcomed the visit of Shaikh Abdullah, commending the friendship and cooperation between the two countries

He also hailed the role played by the UAE at the regional and international levels.

During his visit, Shaikh Abdullah also met a delegation of US Senators in Washington and discussed with them bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them in all fields. Both sides also reviewed a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest, and discussed the situation in the Middle East.

Shaikh Abdullah stressed the UAE’s keenness to enhance joint cooperation and strategic partnerships with the US in various fields, and its support to combat terrorism and achieve stability and peace in the region.

The delegates expressed their appreciation of the mutual relationship, which enjoys ongoing support from both countries. They also said that they appreciated the efforts made by the UAE in the areas of humanitarian work, promoting stability in the region, fighting terrorism, and adopting a platform of moderation. They praised the leading role of the UAE at regional and international levels.
