New students join university for the academic year 2018-2019.

More than 265,000 new students join Sunday university for the academic year 2018-2019, which has recorded a total of 1.7 million students.

The students are registered with 50 different universities, 13 university centre, 32 higher colleges, 11 teaching schools and 51 facilities relating to other sectors but pedagogically under the ministry of Higher, Education and Scientific Research, in addition to nine private institutes.  

The university capacity and performance had been reinforced ahead of the start of the new term 2018-2019, reaching 1.452,000 places at university.

The Algerian university has received recently 67,100 new seats, with 45,500 new beds, bringing the accommodation capacity to 629,500 beds, in addition to six central canteens planted in major pedagogical centres.

The reception of those infrastructures is part of the efforts to give boost to university establishments and the network of higher colleges.

The minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Tahar Hadjar, said recently that his department had mobilized all required human and material resources to have a successful start of the academic year.
