Seoul - UPI

Nearly one in 10 South Korean primary and secondary school students has been victimized by various acts of violence, a government survey said. The country's education ministry released the online survey Friday, noting it involved 5.14 million students and was designed to devise measures to stop a wave of suicides by young victims. The survey indicated 8.5 percent of the respondents said they had experienced violence from their peers in the past school year, the South Korean Yonhap News Agency reported. The ministry said Friday it would designate 100 schools, 1 percent of the schools in South Korea, as having a high risk of violence, and send groups of experts, including police officers and consultants, to conduct anti-violence programs.
