Kuala Lumpur - Bernama

More than 1,000 Sudanese have benefited from the training in Malaysia under the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) since its inception in 1980, Malaysian Ambassador to Sudan Mohd Ashri Muda said. Sudan has by and large benefited from the technical skills gained by its people who graduated from MTCP, which he said signifies Malaysia's commitment to the South-South Cooperation, in particular the technical cooperation among developing countries. "More are in Malaysia for other technical training programmes including those hosted by Petronas. "While undergoing training, they too contributed to a better people-to-people contact which in turn has created a conducive environment for cordial and friendly relations between Malaysia and Sudan," he said at a function in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, Thursday. His speech text at a workshop on "Managing Diversity in Multicultural Nation" organised by JICA Sudan at the Sudanese Ministry of International Cooperation was made available to Bernama here Monday. University of Malaya International Institute of Public Policy and Management Deputy Director, Associate Prof Dr Sharifah Mariam Al Habshi, and Universiti Sains Malaysia Associate Professor, Dr Kamarulzaman Askandar, were the key speakers at the workshop. Mohd Ashri said while other countries focus on providing assistance on the hardware of the development, Malaysia was committed in providing the software, in the form of training for the people of the receiving countries to contribute to its human capital development.
