Damascus - SANA
The Syria Trust for Development has launched "It's My Right to Learn" campaign to encourage children of displaced families to go back to school and continue their education. The aim of the campaign is to support children at the makeshift residential centers to enroll in schools in the areas where they are temporarily staying to continue the path of their future, according to Etab al-Taqi who is in charge of the campaign. "It's also a call for us all to help as much as possible in reducing the financial burdens on the families affected by the current situation in Syria," said al-Taqi. She clarified that the campaign basically includes in-kind donations in terms of providing the children with educational and learning materials, in addition to financial donations through the Trust's offices. Heba Razzouq, a volunteer in the campaign, said the campaign also aims to raise the children's awareness of the importance of education and to contribute to boosting their integration in society. "It's My Right to Learn" campaign will continue at the makeshift centers in a number of provinces until the end of the current year. The Syria Trust for Development is a non-governmental, non-profit organization established in 2001 to empower individuals and communities in Syria to fulfill their role in building their society and shaping their future. The Trust works on supporting and incubating local initiatives, encouraging active citizenship, entrepreneurship and volunteerism, building capacities, sharing knowledge, and establishing partnerships with individuals and civil society organizations to advocate development issues. The Trust incubated since 2001 several development projects such as FIRDOS, SHABAB, Massar, Rawafed and the Syrian Development Research Centre.
