Riyadh - BNA
Education Minister and Chairman of the High Education Council Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi led the Kingdom's delegation to the 14th Conference of Arab Ministers of High Education and Scientific Research, held here in cooperation with the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organisation (ALECSO). The conferees approved the Arab Strategy for Scientific and Technical Research and Creativity, being a means to enhance joint Arab action, and requested the Secretariat-General of the Arab League and ALECSO to finalise necessary procedures to ratify it. They also emphasised the need to give more importance to teaching Arabic in open and distance learning, unify e-learning terminology, conduct research on mechanisms to accredit diplomas issued by higher education establishments and step up coordination in order to adopt joint Arab standards for academic qualifications. The conference also requested Arab Higher Education and Scientific Research Ministries to submit reports on their achievements from 1981 to 2013. It also stressed the importance of promoting the skills of scientific research among youths.
