New Syndicate of Journalists chief Diyaa Rashwan called on journalists to back him to achieve their demands. In an interview with the state TV channel one, Rashwan said "the syndicate's general assembly members are capable to achieve all journalists' demands and hopes which are summed in 'No profession without dignity'". He said that the former regime supported former journalists syndicates chief Makram Mohamed Ahmed to defeat him in the syndicate's elections In 2009. He added that he would not resign from his post as head of Al-Ahram Centre for the Political and Strategic Studies after his new syndicate position.
