GFAJ celebrates 50th anniversary

The General Federation of Arab Journalists (GFAJ) celebrated its 50th anniversary last night under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
The event was attended by Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab, several Ministers, heads of Arab journalist associations, writers and intellectuals.
Egypt's Prime Minister in his speech emphasised that the General Federation of Arab Journalists was created to act as the platform for the Arab peoples, embody the unity of the Arab nation and preserve its unity.
He urged for the need to have a unified Arab media code of ethics to consecrate the freedom of expression on the one hand and comply with ethics, honesty of publication and respect national sovereignty as well as non-interference in the internal affairs on the other hand.
The event was also attended veteran Arab journalists, including Makram Mohammed Ahmed from Egypt, Sabir Falhout from Syrian, Rakan Al-Majali from Jordan, Mahboub Ali from Yemen, Hassan Al-Batal from State of Palestine, Ahmed Yousef Behbahani from Kuwait, Fadl-Allah Mohammed Fadhul from Sudan and Talal Sulaiman from Lebanon.
