Chairman of the Radio and Television Union and Essam el-Amir
Cairo - MENA

Head of the Board of Trustees of the Egyptian Radio and Television Union (ERTU) Esam el-Amir stressed the importance of developing Arab media discourse to put an end to incitement and social clashes.

Addressing a forum at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo on Tuesday in the presence of a number of Arab youths, el-Amir warned of the incitement in the media to trigger acts of violence.

For her part, Ambassador Haifaa Abu Ghazala, the Arab League assistant secretary general and head of the media sector at the league, called for a role by the media and social media to fight extremism.
