Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment organiser of Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF), will launch the DSF's Journalism Award 2013 to recognise journalists for their efforts and coverage of the event under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai. The DSF will get underway on 3rd January for 32 days. Organiser says journalism had played a large role in the success and fame of Dubai Shopping Festival. Since the first edition of DSF in 1996, local journalism, along with regional and international media, has helped communicate the festival's vision and mission to audiences around the world. The event has now become one of the world's biggest and most important annual festivals, attracting tourists from all across the world. All nominations will be evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges, whose decision will be final and binding. Works will be evaluated according to style, quality of research and content, overall presentation, creativity and impact of the story. In a special ceremony, winners will be awarded a trophy, a certificate of appreciation and cash amount of US$5000 each, while runners up will take home US$3000. Journalists from English or Arabic language newspapers and magazines (local and regional) can participate in the award categories: Best Feature - Local Newspapers and Magazines US$5,000, DSF Prolific Writer- local newspapers US$5,000, Best Editorial and Design Team US$10,000, Best Feature - Online Portals US$5,000 and Best Feature - Regional Newspapers and Magazines US$5,000. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
