Azerbaijan to ban broadcasting of foreign TV series

Azerbaijan is to ban the broadcasting of foreign TV series to protect the rights of domestic filmmakers and promote the country's film industry, according to a senior official. Nushirevan Maharramli, chairman of the country's National Broadcasting Council, said: "Foreign TV series often contradict Azerbaijan's mentality and impede the development of the domestic film industry." The ban is due to come into force next May.
