Ankara - Anadolu

African delegation of 21 journalists visited Anadolu Agency (AA) on Wednesday. The delegation invited within scope of "Journalist Delegation Programme" of the Turkish Prime Ministry Office of Public Diplomacy between March 25 and 31, obtained information about Anadolu Agency. Anadolu Agency Foreign News Deputy Editor Yusuf Kaya made a presentation about AA's centennial vision to journalists from Kenya, Gabon, Senegal and Niger. Kaya stated that Anadolu Agency was broadcasting in five languages and aimed to broadcast in 11 eleven languages by 2020. Stating that AA aimed to be among the top five agencies in the world by 2020, Kaya added that AA would become a global player in the international arena. AA Deputy Director General Ahmet Tek answered the questions of journalists following the presentation of Kaya. Upon being asked of the success of AA by a journalist, Tek stated that Turkey was on the rise in recent years and hence this reflected to Anadolu Agency. Tek said that AA and Turkey would be the voice of Africa during its awakening, following the comment of a journalist who stated that Turkey had a good reputation in Africa thanks to the Ottoman Empire and contrary to the bad reputation of western agencies in Africa. Anadolu Agency's Board Chairman & Director General Kemal Ozturk also held talks with the delegation and provided information in regards to AA.
