As part of the commitment of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) to promote the Information Technology culture and awareness, as well as the importance of information security and information risks, the Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Ltd (GASCO) organized conference titled: "Information Security is Everyone's Responsibility", which was launched today, Tuesday 22nd January 2013. The conference will last for two days and is being held at the Union Towers in Abu Dhabi. The conference whose purpose was to bring the importance of security awareness brought leading security experts to deliver presentation on new research, technologies and best practice approached to help organizations anticipate the threats of tomorrow. The conference was attended by Mohammed Sahoo Al Suwaidi, ADNOC's Gas Director, Major General Ahmed Nasir Al Raysi, Director of Central Operations at the Abu Dhabi Police, Awaidah Murshed Al Murar, ADNOC's Shared Services Director, and a number of CEOs in the ADNOC Group of Companies in addition to a number leaders form various industries, senior officials from local and public sectors as well as graduate students from all major UAE Universities. Mohammed Sahoo Al Suwaidi, Director, Gas Directorate of ADNOC opened the conference and reminded the attendees in his keynote speech of the importance of education and awareness in order to secure our businesses, communities and youth from potential cyber threats and malicious attacks. The conference featured a mix of high-quality presentations from speakers from the UAE and around the world. Speakers included Emirati doctorate students and government entities as well as experts who travelled from the USA, UK, Netherlands and Finland. Amongst others, the topics included subjects such as Cyber Security efforts in the UAE, security risks associated with personal mobile devise usage in organizations; improving security in industrial automation and insights into the Global trade in 0-day Security Exploits. With the attendance of over 600 guests, the content and clarity of the event's presentations promoted useful discussion and further information exchange based on the importance of information security awareness and education - essential components in the fight for risk mitigation and establishing a mature security posture within organizations.
