Riyadh - Arab Today

President of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology Dr. Mohammed Bin Ibrahim Al-Suwaiyel said that the kingdom is one of the leading four countries in the Middle East in scientific publishing rates in the field of environmental research, according to Thomson Reuters report in 2013.
He stated that the annual growth rate of patents in the areas of the environment was around 58%.
He explained that this remarkable figure is an indication of the rapid awareness of concern for the environment and the pursuit by local scientists to find solutions to environmental problems.
His remarks came today during his opening of the second Saudi international conference on environmental technology.
The two-day event is organized by the city under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
