Egyptian Environment Minister Khaled Fahmy

Environment Minister Khaled Fahmy said on Saturday that the green economy will significantly contribute to solving the problem of the solid waste.
In statements at the close of the preparatory meetings for the African environment ministers conference, Fahmy said that the solid waste has increased by 36 percent since 2000.
The solid waste reached 21 million tons in 2010, including 9 million tons in Cairo, Fahmy added.
