Cairo - MENA

Tourism Minister Hisham Zaazou on Friday expressed happiness that Egypt is taking part, for the first time, in worldwide celebrations of New Year's Eve.

Zaazou made the remarks in a celebration held at the Great Pyramids of Giza, where a huge celebration is underway to see off 2015.

He added that such celebration will have a significant positive impact on attracting more attention to Egyptian tourist destinations.

The minister thanked the youth, who took part in the event, stressing that 2016 will see an Egyptian momentum in all fields.

At the Great Pyramids of Giza, displays of special visual effects and fireworks began on the stroke of midnight as part of a huge party to celebrate New Year's Eve.
