Khalid Jasim Al Midfa
Sharjah - Arab Today

The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, SCTDA, has signed an MoU with the Directorate of Town Planning and Survey in Sharjah.

The agreement was signed by Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of SCTDA, and Salah bin Butti Al Muhairi, Head of the Directorate of Town Planning and Survey, in an effort to bolster cooperation between governmental, semi-governmental, and private institutions to improve the emirate’s tourism sector.

The agreement seeks to highlight the tourism and entertainment offerings of the emirate, which, in turn, helps to promote Sharjah as a tourist destination. The MoU also underlines the importance of cooperation and teamwork to achieve the aspirations and strategic goals of both parties.

Mr. Al Midfa said, "We, at the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, are working to improve our promotional efforts to position Sharjah as a premier tourist destination, and to expand the emirate’s tourism sector, which is a major component of its economy. To that end, we are looking to cooperate with all government entities in Sharjah to further the authority’s objectives."

According to the MoU, the two sides have agreed to exchange information and data pertaining to the tourism sector and to innovate new methods to improve tourism maps in the emirate. In addition, the two institutions will issue printed and electronic maps that include a hotel registry as well as a calendar of weekly and seasonal events, as well as directions to camping areas, safari parks, and others.
