(CAEU) Ambassador Mohamed el Rabei
Cairo - Arab Today

Secretary General of the Council of Arab Economic Unity (CAEU) Ambassador Mohamed el Rabei said Egypt is a safe country and it is the best tourist destination in the world with a history of 7,000 years.

This came in a meeting on Monday with a delegation of Bahraini tour guides at the headquarters of the CAEU's General Secretariat in Giza's Dokki district.

The meeting aims at promoting tourism in Egypt through cooperation with the Arab Tourist Guides Union (ATGU), under tourism expert Mohamed Gharib.

In statements, the union's media adviser, Dr. Abdul-Rehim Rehan, said that Amb. Rabei lauded the Bahraini delegation's visit to Egypt and the union's role in organizing this visit.

He further underlined the role of tour guides in spreading the culture of peace and bringing people closer, stressing that the best way to fight terrorism is promoting tourism.

He called for launching a tourist convoy, under the slogan "love and peace", that will start its mission through two famous cities, one in Egypt and the other in Europe.

He also called for boosting cooperation between institutions concerned with antiquities in Egypt and The Bahrain History and Archaeology Society, one of the oldest societies in the Gulf-Arab region that was established in 1953.
