Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, on Sunday received Peter Maurer, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, ICRC.

The meeting, held at the ministry's diwan in Abu Dhabi, saw discussions on means to boost co-operation between the UAE and the ICRC, as well as the best way to deliver humanitarian aid to the affected areas in the world.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed said the UAE is keen on implementing its programme for humanitarian assistance in the affected countries, as part of its approach to humanitarian giving and relief for needy people.

"The UAE and its relevant national organisations, such as the Emirates Red Crescent, is keen on lending a helping hand and delivering humanitarian assistance to the needy people all over the world," he said.

The ICRC President applauded the UAE's effective role in the humanitarian fields and in dispatching relief convoys to alleviate the suffering of the people.
