A bomb wounded four civilians and four policemen outside Cairo University Saturday, Egyptian police and health officials said.
Several explosions outside the university have taken place since the army ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in 2013, the last of which wounded five policemen in November.
The attacks were claimed by a Cairo-based militant group called Ajnad Misr (Soldiers of Egypt), but no one has yet claimed Saturday's explosion.
The rudimentary bomb was placed at the exit of a metro station that serves the university, the police official said.
Health ministry spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said those wounded were "in stable condition."
