A researcher and a professor of political science at the University of Nahrain that Iraq is facing great challenges to overcome the crises experienced by, indicating that the first challenge is how to reconstruct the areas liberated recently from the grip of ISIS extremist group.
Iraqi professor of Political Science Nour Al Qais said that Iraq is facing great challenges in order to overcome the crises it has experienced, noting that the first treatment of these crises is the resettlement the liberated areas of terrorism, which left the remnants of extremism that need extraordinary efforts to overcome them.
She underlined that many of the steps that must be followed are still far from reality and lack of support from media studies and researches, adding that the current threats launched by extremists and terrorist groups of retaliation pose serious threat against the stability of the country during the current critical period witnessed in the country.
She added that the Iraqi government should take serious steps to reconsider its measure and to reformulate its relations with the different international and major powers, saying that the current government took serious steps to improve its relations with a number of major powers in the region, including Saudi Arabia.
She stressed the importance of taking a moderate approach in dealing with regional conflicts witnessed in the Middle East, saying that if the country managed to achieve this objective, it would be qualified for taking a leading position in the Middle East as one of its major regional powers during the coming period.
She added that the Iraqi government needs to re-draw its relations with the neighboring states and to end any pending issues with them as soon as possible, saying that the Iraqi government should draw itself as an ally for the conflicting parties in the region to be qualified for playing the role of mediator in different regional issues.
She added, “The world sees that terrorism comes from Iraq, Syria and some other countries, which posed a threat to the security and stability of their country, pointing to the events and attacks on several European cities such as Barcelona, Paris, London, Berlin, Brussels and cities in the United States also according to the standards of those countries in matters of security, stability, Investment and even human rights constitute a serious breach and threat because it does not allow it and works to upgrade rather than retreat in these areas.”
Qais indicated the need to develop plans that Iraq can employ for its benefit by addressing such problems and investing for it, especially in the field of land conservation after liberation and reconstruction of liberated areas.
