Libyan troops advanced to Ras Lanov
Tripoli - Fatima Saadawy

Spokesperson of Libyan Armed Forces Ahmed Al Mesmari called the citizens for suspending their movement in the area between Ras Lanov to Sirte as of the early morning hours of Monday. He said, on his Facebook account, “All citizens should not move in the area between Ras Lanov to Sirte as of the early morning hours of Monday.”

The statement came after his announcement to mobilize the ground and air forces to liberate the Oil Crescent area from the extremist elements. He added, in a press statement issued on Sunday, that the militants that stormed the area are loyal to Qaeda extremist group and Muslim Brotherhood. He added that the Libyan troops advanced to Ras Lanov’s industrial zone to deal with the extremist groups.

According to a military source, Libyan fighter jets bombarded armed factions to expel their elements from the sites surrounding Sadra and Ras Lanov oil ports in the framework of the efforts exerted by the Libyan forces to restore control on the ports recently controlled by extremist militants on Friday.

In the same context, militias in Misrata related to the National Accordance government announced their support for Qaeda extremist group which controls a number of towns in the Oil Crescent area. The militants’ leader announced that their armed group moved to support Qaeda’s militants.

On the other hand, the official in the Red Crescent in Ajdabiya, Mansour Abdul-Aty, said that the Red Crescent had received thirteen bodies of the fighters of the army of the House of Representatives (HoR) that led by General Khalifa Haftar.

The thirteen fighters killed in the clashes between Haftar’s troops and the forces of Benghazi Defense Brigades at the Oil Crescent Region.

Abdul-Aty said, in a press release, that the Red Crescent team received the bodies in a hospital in Beshr area after an agreement with Haftar’s forces and Benghazi Defense Brigades.

Benghazi Defense Brigades continued advancing in Ras-Lanuf oil port, 150 Km eastern the city of Sirte after attacking Haftar’s forces, on Friday, in the Region. Benghazi Defense Brigades clarified, in a statement, that it is targeting to reach the city of Benghazi.
