Qatar Charity (QC) has launched a new campaign to raise QR20mn for the displaced people inside Syria on the Turkish border to provide them with food and shelter. “Through this campaign, QC aims at raising that sum to provide thousands of the displaced Syrians with urgently required food supplies and shelter as the winter season is approaching,” said Mohamed Ali al-Ghamidi, QC executive director of the international development department. He said that the campaign is really a pressing need because the Eid is approaching and those people should be given some joy on this occasion during their severe circumstances. He further urged donors to hurry and donate for those people who are in urgent need of aid. QC has planned two major projects for the Syrian refugees stranded on the Turkish borders. One of these is for building temporary camps that could initially accommodate around 9,000 refugees. Each camp would include 500 tents, with each tent accommodating six persons at a cost of QR2,000 including the necessary basic equipment and furniture. The total cost for a single camp would amount to QR1mn. The major project entails distribution of food packages to the refugees. It aims at providing each six-person family with food supplies enough for one month. The cost of such packages would be QR400 a package. The cost for a complete camp would amount to QR200,000 for one month’s food supplies. Donors have various options to donate to specific projects and at the number and sum they are willing to provide through different donation methods available at QC.
