Washington - QNA

Qatar Airways (QA) will be the gold sponsor for the first ever Qatari Students Career Fair, to be held from November 1 to 3 at the Marriott Washington Wardman Park here, the national carrier said Monday. Hundreds of Qatari students from around the United States will have the opportunity to meet representatives, conduct interviews and discuss sponsorship opportunities with 11 different government institutions and Qatari companies, including Qatar Airways. The representative of QA will be Senior Vice-President Contracts and Procurement Mohsen Alyafei. Commenting on the importance of the students career fair, QA CEO Akbar Al Baker said, "As part of the 2030 Qatari National Vision, we are proud to sponsor this incredible event and to help motivate the next generation of Qatari business leaders. "We are confident that, given the proper support and opportunities, these bright, young students can find rewarding careers within some of Qatar's finest companies." The QA Nationalisation Department, a division of the airline dedicated to the development of Qatari talent, will be marketing 23 different majors during the 2013 US Career Fair as well as Scholarship programmes, Graduate Development Programme, Internship Programme and Aviation Management Programme and actual job interviews, the carrier said. The department will host airline-sponsored Qatari students from around the US as well as students poised to graduate and new employees based in Doha to share their experiences as a QA-sponsored student. Commenting of student potential, QA Vice President Nationalisation Dr. Kholode Al Obaidli said, "Since the start of the QA National Scholarship Programme in 2011, we have welcomed into the airline highly talented, self-motivated, and studious young men and women that have benefitted from the resources we provide in their academic journeys. "The airline is renowned for excellence and similarly, in QA's scholarship programme we have welcomed aspiring students that share in this vision and inclination towards being the best that they can be in everything they do. "We are proud to be meeting young men and women during the upcoming career fair, and introduce them to the enriching and diverse programme that QA offers." Currently, there are 733 Qatari students in the US - 328 are sponsored by Qatar's Higher Education Institute, and 405 are self-financed, QA said.
