Philippine School Doha, Philippine International School Qatar, DPS-Modern Indian School, Birla Public School, Ideal Indian School, and Al Khor International School (Indian Stream) have qualified for the finals of the Indian Women’s Association’s 16th Inter School Quiz contest. The finals of the event, with Commercialbank as the main sponsor, is taking place today at the Birla Public School auditorium from 5.30pm. The event will be hosted by the renowned quiz master Derek O’Brien, who has conducted shows in the US, UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Pakistan. The preliminary round, which took place yesterday, had about 450 students (standard VII & VIII & IX) from 13 schools in attendance. The other schools which competed in the preliminary rounds were Cambridge International School for Girls, Dukhan English School, Doha Modern Indian School, MES Indian School, Middle East International School, Qatar International and Shantiniketan Indian School. Each school in the finals is represented by a team of three students - one each from standard VII, VIII and IX. The following are the members of the teams: Philippine School Doha – Golez Markus, David Jonathan Relacion, Maurice Andrew Huerto. Philippine International School Qatar – Mary Ruth Atara, Arvin Fredric Parungao, Shereen Kyle Manojo. DPS-Modern Indian School – B Sri Prasath, Pooja Vasushree, Chirag Vashist. Birla Public School – Aaron Aagi Kollannur, Sreevathsa Giridhar, Aditya Divakar Karkera. Ideal Indian School – Basma Kamran, Tarab Iqbal, Arundhathi Devi. Al Khor International School (Indian Stream) – Kashish Venaik, Shubhang Krishna, Vineet Jiji Cherian. The event is open to the public and there will be many questions directed to the audience. The fund raising programme is held under the patronage of the Indian Women’s Association, established in Qatar in 1986 under the aegis of the Indian Culture Centre of the Embassy of India. The main sponsor of the event is Commercialbank. RasGas is the associate sponsor, Gulf Times the media sponsor, Radisson Blu the official hotel, Avis Rent a Car the official transport, and Doha Modern Printing Press the official printers. The event is also supported by McDonalds, LG and Video Home, Mega Mart+Shoprite, Consolidated Gulf Co., Air India Express, Mercure Hotel, LuLu, Homes R Us, Domasco-Titan, Qatar Design Consortium, Construction Development Co, Mannai Air Travel, Damas, Family Food Centre, Bombay Silk Centre, KIMS Medical Centre, Writer Relocations, and Galfar Al Misnad.
