Manama - Arab Today

Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), received at the SCW’s premises today, the administrative and teaching staff of the Al-Iman private school, as well as a number of female students from the same school.

HRH Princess Sabeeka congratulated Al-Iman School’s girls’ section for winning the Arab Reading Challenge 2017, hosted by the UAE, with the participation of 41,000 schools from Arab countries.

HRH Princess Sabeeka commended the tremendous efforts exerted by the administrative and teaching staff which led the school to achieve such an outstanding result, praising their constant encouragement of the students, from the early stages, to engage in reading as the best means to acquire knowledge, learn about cultures and be open to the world, which, she said, are necessary to foster critical thinking and build the selection, analysis and deductive skills.

HRH Princess Sabeeka stressed the Al-Iman School’s exploit reflects Bahrain’s leading cultural and educational leadership, noting that the SCW has always focused, in all its works and literatures, on the Bahraini women’s educational renaissance, which is part of a century-long march of a society that believed in the importance of science, culture and knowledge.

She affirmed that the Bahraini women has played an integral part in the kingdom’s educational renaissance which, she stressed, is reflected in the slogan of the Bahraini Women’s Day, "I read ...Learnt Participated", as well as in the dedication of the first Bahraini Women’s Day to honouring women in the educational field.

HRH Princess Sabeeka wished all the affiliates of the educational sector further success in strengthening the educational march in the kingdom and maintaining its leading standing.

Education Ministry’s Undersecretary for Resources and Services, Dr. Mohammed Mubarak Juma’a, praised HRH Princess Sabeeka’s keenness on following up on the progress of Bahraini women in all sectors, lauding her fruitful efforts which resulted in Bahraini women’s participation in various fields, and their growing contributions to the national economy.

He affirmed the Ministry of Education’s commitment to working with the SCW to promote joint programmes and allow women to play their full roles, within the efforts to implement the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women, given the fact that women account for 64 per cent of the Ministry’s workforce and 58 per cent of its leadership positions.

Principal of the Girls’ Section at the Al-Iman School, Fourat Abdulhay Tuleimat, lauded HRH Princess Sabeeka’s constantly supporting and empowering Bahraini women of all age categories.

She stressed that the school’s achievement was the result of 25-year-long efforts.

It is also the fruitful outcome of the kingdom’s efforts to develop education and advance Bahraini women.
