Bahrain gearing up for GCC Games
Manama - BNA

The Kingdom of Bahrain looks to regain the GCC Women’s Games glory next month when the Fifth edition of the games takes place in Doha.
The games will be held from March 7 to 17 as Bahrain hopes to win the event for a record third time, having won the 2013 and 2015 games held in Bahrain and Oman, respectively.
This year’s Women’s Games will feature 13 sports in total – handball, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, taekwondo, shooting, athletics for people with disabilities, chess, fencing, bowling, tennis, athletics and equestrian.
Supreme Council for Youth and Sports deputy Secretary-General, Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) board member and Women’s Sport Committee chairwoman Shaikha Hayat bintAbdulaziz Al Khalifa will lead Bahrain’s delegation to the Games.
Shaikha Hayat said the Bahrain participation in the games is in line with the directives of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty theKing for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and SportsChairman, and BOC President, to further boost sports development in Bahrain.
