Al Mahatta Museum received the first ever ambulance operated at Sharjah International Airport a Mercedes 1985 to join the collection of exhibits in the museum that mark the history of aviation in the UAE, especially the Emirate of Sharjah.

The delivery ceremony of the vehicle was held on Wednesday in the presence of Sheikh Faisal bin Saud Al Qassimi, Director of Sharjah Airport Authority, Salem Mohamed Al Khayyal, Communication and Development Manager at Sharjah Museums Department, Alya Obaid Al Shamsi, Marketing and Customer Relations Director at the authority and other seniors from the Sharjah Airport Authority, in addition to the Sharjah Museum’s department management.

Sheikh Faisal Al Qassimi emphasised the importance of Al Mahatta Museum as a representative of the aviation history in Sharjah. The museum features a collection of exhibits in the first airport headquarters and provides an opportunity for new generations to learn about the history of aviation in Sharjah.

The addition of the first ambulance that was used at the Sharjah International Airport as part of the museum’s permanent exhibit is an important educational feature for the community and visitors, he noted. It also adds to the history of the other collectibles that are significant parts of the Emirate’s aviation process.

Manal Ataya, Director-General of Sharjah Museums Department, said, "We are proud to receive this vehicle that represents the long history of Sharjah International Airport. Each piece in the museum is considered significant, characterised by its own tale and history, and showcased alongside other exhibits allowing visitors interested in the world of aviation to enjoy viewing them."

She expressed gratitude to the management of the Sharjah International Airport for taking this step.

Al Mahatta Museum is at the headquarters of the first airport in the United Arab Emirates and the gulf region. Launched in 1932, it was used as a staging post for commercial flights from Britain to India. It was transformed into a museum in 2000, showcasing the history of aviation in the UAE and the region.
