The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Ramallah - MENA

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned on Wednesday decision of Israeli Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan to expand gun permit eligibility in the occupied territories.

Israeli Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan issued the decision under claims that it is necessary for the security forces to be able to respond immediately to the terrorist operations taking place in the state.

In a statement, Palestinian foreign ministry said that such a step represents serious escalation by Israeli occupation government regarding field executions policy to enable further Israeli elements to shoot the Palestinian people under tenuous allegations.

As well, the decision reflects extremism, racism and hatred of Israeli society and its political and security leadership. It is resulted from the wide incitement campaign carried out by the extremist right wing ruling party which is leading Israel to satisfy extremists' current, a statement read.

Israeli government led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is fully responsible for the decision and its disastrous consequences, a statement noted.

The Palestinian ministry called on human rights organizations to consider such a dangerous decision and to take serious actions to uncover and denounce this occupational policy which allows committing deadly acts against the Palestinian people.

The silence of the international community and related UN organizations on the occupation crimes represents a cover for more escalatory acts by Israel enabling occupation authorities to violate international law and human rights agreements.
