Deutsche Welle quoted the German foreign ministry
Berlin - Arab Today

The German embassy in Ankara will remain closed due to a fresh terror warning, Deutsche Welle quoted the German foreign ministry as saying on Thursday.

This coincides with the closure of the consulate and German School in Istanbul.

The consulate said in an email to German citizens that both facilities would stay shut as a precaution, the email said. It also urged German citizens to stay away from the area.

The German consulate is located in the vicinity of Taksim Square with the school a mile away in the Istiklal Caddesi pedestrian area.

The move comes days after 37 people were killed in a car bomb blast in the capital, Ankara. The Kurdish terror group TAK claimed responsibility on Thursday.

The German embassy in Ankara had warned German citizens to be careful.
