The Iraqi intelligence said on Saturday that the deputy leader of Islamic State (IS) group was killed in an airstrike in western Iraq.
With accurate intelligence information, Iraqi warplanes conducted an airstrike on a Daesh (IS) headquarters in Qaim area near the border with Syria in western Iraq and killed Ayad Hamid al-Jumaili, who was believed to be the second-in-command of the top IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, Iraqi state television cited the country's military intelligence as saying.
The airstrike also killed Turky al-Dulaimi, military leader of the IS group in Qaim, and Salim al-Ajmi, the administrative leader of the group in the area, the channel said.
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, known to his supporters as Amir al-Mu'minin, is the Caliph of self-proclaimed IS, which announced the establishment of a caliphate on June 29, 2014, capturing some areas in western and northern Iraq as well as part of neighboring Syria
