As part of the work of the National Disaster Management Committee to measure readiness of various concerned authorities and enhance the national disaster management plan, an exercise entitled “Bahrain is My Nation 2017” with a scenario of airplane crash in residential area was held on Wednesday morning.

The exercise was held in cooperation with the Bahrain Defence Force, National Guard, Health Ministry, Works and Municipalities Ministry, Transportation Ministry, Education Ministry, Supreme Environment Council, National Disaster Management Centre and Electricity and water Authority.
Chief of Public Security and Head of the Committee, Major-General Tariq Al Hassan inspected the National Disaster Management Centre and the exercise’s sites. He expressed appreciation of the joint work and high level performance by various participating sectors and authorities.
He asserted the success of the exercise in achieving its goals through the cooperation of the participating organisations and the one team spirit. He said such exercises could enforce ongoing training in facing risks and dealing with various accidents.
He said that exercise included many learnt lessons to enhance competencies by knowing the strength points and shortcomings to improve them.
He highlighted that its won’t be the last as it will be followed with other and bigger exercises to ensure fast response in dealing with accidents and disasters for fast recovery.
The Chief said that the exercise was designed to evaluate the implemented plans and to measure their readiness as well as the field coordination to learn of improvement requirements and skill development.

The joint exercise was part of the directives of the Civil Defence Council and the National Disaster Management Plan to ensure readiness and coordination capabilities to promote general safety.
