Egyptian Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Center
Cairo - Arab Today

The Egyptian Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) dismissed Wednesday reports saying the government was mulling over imposing a legal penalty over parents who have many kids.

“The report is baseless,” IDSC stressed, noting that it contacted with the Ministry of Social Solidarity on the issue.

A report, circulated on social media and online papers, stated that minister of social solidarity demanded imposing a legal penalty on parents who have more kids, during her speech at UNICEF’s 70th anniversary celebration.

The Ministry of Social Solidarity asserted that the minister’s speech was intentionally twisted from suspicious news websites.

It urged people and media outlets to seek accuracy, and not to be misled by rumors.
