The Executive Office of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment held Wednesday its 54th session under Saudi Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Al Fadli.

Representatives from Egypt, Kuwait, Jordan, Libya, Lebanon, Morocco and Mauritania as well as the General Secretariat of the Arab League participated in the session.

In a press statement by Director of environmental management, housing, water resources and sustainable development of the Arab League (AL) Jamal Jaballah, the executive office issued the agenda of the 29th session of Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment, which will be held Thursday, presided by Kuwait.

He stated that the office followed up the implementation of the decisions of AL summits and asked the Arab Atomic Energy Agency for briefing it on the studies, which are about the impacts of the Israeli Dimona reactor and the Iranian Bushehr reactor on the Arab environment

Jaballah pointed out that he discussed monitoring the radioactive contamination in the border areas with Israel and its effects, adding that the executive office prepared draft resolutions to be presented to the Ministerial Council, including tracking the implementation of the environmental dimension in the targets of the sustainable development 2030 in the Arab region.

He noted that the executive office followed up the international conventions and meetings on the environment and the ways of dealing with climate change issues.
