Vehicle Inspection Centres, VICs, of ADNOC Distribution, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, have inspected more than 350,000 light vehicles during the first five months of 2017 across the emirate of Abu Dhabi, the company announced on Saturday.

These inspections were performed at 21 centres across the emirate, including 8 centres in Abu Dhabi and its suburbs, 6 centres in Al Ain and 7 centres in Al Dhafra Region, the company said in an emailed press release.

ADNOC Distribution also announced that from 25th June, 2017, the new fee for annual inspection of light vehicles will be AED165 instead of the old fee of AED120. The fees for the re-inspection of vehicles failed in inspection, modification of vehicle data, and single permit will remain AED50, AED40 and AED40 respectively.

In 2016, the total number of light vehicles inspected by ADNOC Distribution’s VICs amounted to a total of 782,148. These included 624,729 vehicles that underwent a first time inspection and 157,419 vehicles re-inspected to ensure their compliance with technical requirements.

Saeed Mubarak Al Rashdi, Acting CEO of ADNOC Distribution, said, "We are proud to play an active role in enhancing traffic safety in the UAE by ensuring the safety and technical fitness of vehicles used on our roads. Through the provision of the latest global technology at our VICs across Abu Dhabi, our customers can continue to rely on the quality of service and care they’ve come to expect from ADNOC Distribution."

ADNOC Distribution also recently signed an agreement with General Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police to diversify and enhance the VIC services managed by ADNOC Distribution in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The agreement includes provisions for adding an express inspection service and increasing the number of inspection bays on Abu Dhabi island to handle a growing number of vehicles.

Under the terms of the agreement, the geographical reach of VIC services will be expanded through the offering of these services outside established inspection centres, including in selected shopping centres in Abu Dhabi. As part of its plans to enhance its VIC provision, ADNOC Distribution will also soon announce a raft of new services that will be available at technical inspection centres for light vehicles.

ADNOC Distribution has operated its vehicle inspection service in coordination with ADP since 2000. As well as meeting the highest international technical standards, the quality of VIC services is guaranteed by the company’s continual investment in its workforce through technical training to enable them to keep up with the latest developments in testing techniques and vehicle models and technologies. As a result, ADNOC Distribution’s skilled technicians have reduced average inspection performance times from 25 minutes to less than 10 minutes
