Sharjah - Arab Today

The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, SCCI, has held a meeting with the Mexican Ambassador and discussed ways of developing economic and investment relations between the UAE and Mexico, in particular with the Emirate of Sharjah, as well as discussing how to benefit from the agreements signed between both sides.

Abdallah Sultan Al Owais ,Chairman of Sharjah Chamber, Francisca Elizabeth Mendez Escobar, Mexico's Ambassador to the UAE, and Enrique Aboudib, Commissioner of the Mexican Trade and Investment Office attended the meeting at the SCCI.

Both sides stressed the importance of organising common events and activities in the near future in order to highlight the advantages of investment in the UAE and Mexico as well as encouraging businessmen from both sides to seize the opportunity and establish partnership with their counterparts. They also discussed a planned visit of a Mexican trade delegation to the country in November.

Abdallah Sultan Al Owais delivered a detailed presentation on the facilities and services provided by SCCI to the private sector and its members. He also explained the appropriate investment environment in Sharjah as it's considered a regional center for business and economy due to its modern infrastructure, advanced logistics services, flexible legislation and its vital location. Al Owais called on the Mexican delegation to motivate their private sector to participate in exhibitions organized by Expo Centre Sharjah, especially the upcoming "STEELFAB" show.

The Mexican Ambassador praised the unique relations between the UAE and Mexico at various levels and the role of SCCI in promoting economic and investment relations between both countries. She also expressed the desire of the Mexican business community to develop cooperation with its counterparts in the UAE and Sharjah.

The UAE and Mexico have strong relations in the logistics, air transport, agriculture and food industries. There are currently more than 3,000 Mexican nationals living in the UAE and more than 50,000 Mexican tourists visit the UAE each year.
