Inspector General Boy Rafli Amar
Jakarta - Arab Today

The Indonesian Police are coordinating with the Foreign Ministry to monitor Indonesian citizens in Turkey in the wake of a bomb attack in Ataturk Airport, which killed 28 people and wounded dozens more.

The police have not received a report of Indonesians falling victim to the blast, chief of the National Polices public relations division Inspector General Boy Rafli Amar stated here on Wednesday.

Boy said the police will inform the public of the condition of Indonesian citizens in Turkey based on a report from the Foreign Ministry.

The Indonesian embassy in Turkey had earlier called on Indonesian citizens in the country to increase vigil in the wake of the bomb attack.

Indonesian citizens should continue to carry out their routine activities and avoid crowded places to anticipate subsequent bomb attacks.

Nearly 728 Indonesians currently live in Turkey, of which 310 are students, while the rest are migrant workers.

Reuters reported that three suicide bombers had opened fire before blowing themselves up at the entrance to the main international airport in Istanbul on Tuesday, killing 28 people and wounding dozens more, the provincial governor stated.

The police fired shots in an attempt to stop two of the attackers just before they reached a security checkpoint at the arrival hall at Ataturk airport, Europes third-busiest, but they blew themselves up, the news agency quoted a second Turkish official as saying.
