Malaysian Prime Minister Mohammad Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak congratulated Indonesias new President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) who were inaugurated at the Parliament Building here on Monday.

"I wish good luck to Mr Jokowi and Mr JK to run the new administration of Indonesia," Najib stated after attending the inauguration event.

With regard to the bilateral relations between Indonesia and Malaysia for the next five years, Najib reiterated that the two countries already enjoy sound cooperation and relations in various fields.

"This (inauguration) is a good sign. Hopefully, Malaysia and Indonesias relationship will be better in the future," he noted.

Malaysias Prime Minister Najib Razak was one of the six heads of state who attended the inauguration of President Jokowi and Vice President JK, including Brunei Darussalams Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, Timor Lestes President Taur Mata Huak, Papua New Guineas Prime Minister Peter ONeill, Australias Prime Minister Tony Abbott, and Singapores Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

Besides the six heads of state, the inauguration was also attended by some special envoys from Indonesias partner countries, including former Japanese prime minister Yasuo Fukuda, US Foreign Minister John Kerry, Philippines Foreign Minister Albert del Rosario, New Zealand Foreign Minister Murray McCully, Deputy of Chinas Peoples Congress, Thailands Deputy Prime Minister, Sri Lankas Industry Minister, Russian Industry and Trade Minister, Turkeys Trade Minister, and dignitaries from the Netherlands, Vietnam, South Korea, and Canada.

Joko Widodo was inaugurated as the seventh president and Jusuf Kalla as the twelfth vice president of Indonesia.

Jokowi and his running mate JK won the presidential election on July 9 after securing 70,997,833 votes, or 53.15 percent of the total 133,574,277 votes, while their rivals, Prabowo Subianto and his partner Hatta Rajasa, secured 62,576,444 votes, or 46.85 percent of the total.
