The first female photojournalist in Jordan Rima El-Boni started her career in 2007 as the first Jordanian woman to work in this field breaking the masculine stereotype for this profession, and showing efficiency and ability to succeed.

El-Boni said in an interview with Arabs Today that she was graduated in 2002 from Al-Khwarizmi College after she studied TV and photography arts, and enrolled in several courses in the same field in Jordan Media Institute, the Institute of Management and others. In 2007, El-Boni was appointed in Jordan News Agency "Petra" as the first female photojournalist in Jordan, and she is still working there.

After marriage and having three children, El-Boni completed her studies in press and media at the Zarqa Private University, pushed by her love for this field and as a kind of challenge.

El-Boni pointed out that she overcame the masculine stereotype of the profession and prove her ability to go out and take significant photos, however, in some occasions she still feel that some people reject her in terms of the culture of shame being a woman, El-Boni added.

El-Boni expressed her willingness to enter the sports journalism, as she worked for a long time in covering various events such as conferences, seminars, workshops, sit-ins, marches, political and economic events.

El-Boni asserted that the journalistic photo has important specifications that distinguish it from ordinary photos, as it requires neutrality, professionalism and credibility.

El-Boni wished if the girls can enter the photojournalism profession as it is not restricted to men only, saying "choose the huge battles to fight in, as they have the most value."
