Transport Minister Galal Saeed and President of the Egyptian National Railways (ENR) Medhat Shosha inspected the train accident scene in Giza’s Ayat district
Cairo - Arab Today

Transport Minister Galal Saeed and President of the Egyptian National Railways (ENR) Medhat Shosha inspected the train accident scene in Giza’s Ayat district, which occurred this morning.

The minister asked the ENR chief to prepare a detailed report about the accident and whether it was caused by a technical glitch or over-speeding.

He also assigned ENR officials to form emergency maintenance and rapid response teams to handle such situations and prevent their recurrence.

At least three persons have been killed and 17 more wounded when three wagons of a Cairo-Aswan train derailed in Ayat, Shosha had told MENA earlier.

The accident occurred when the rear of the train hit a bumper, causing the locomotive, the baggage car and a passenger car to derail and turn over, he said.
