Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui, on Tuesday, led the Tunisian delegation attending the 150th ordinary session of the Arab League Council at ministerial level held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League in Cairo.

 

At the Tunisian Embassy in Cairo, Khemaies Jhinaoui held a working session with Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, to review the preparations for the 30th Ordinary Session of the Arab Summit scheduled for March 2019 in Tunis and whose presidency will go to Tunisia.

 

In his address to the Arab League Council meeting, the Foreign Minister recalled Tunisia's position on Arab issues including the just Palestinian cause and the situation in Libya, Syria and Yemen, the Foreign Affairs Department said in a statement.

 

Tunisia supports the Palestinian people in their fight to recover their legitimate rights, first and foremost the establishment of their independent state in the borders of June 4, 1967 with Al Quds as capital city.

 

On the situation in Libya, Jhinaoui reiterated Tunisia's commitment to spare no effort, as part of the initiative of President Beji Caid Essebsi, to help the Libyan brothers find a comprehensive political solution through dialogue and consensus and upholding the best interests of their country.

 

Tunisia, who is preparing to host the next Arab Summit, "will make every effort to continue the consultations and co-ordination with the Arab brother countries and the Arab League Secretariat General to ensure that this Summit can usher in a new stage in effective Arab action in the light of the situation in the region ".

 

On the sidelines of his participation in the 150th ordinary session of the Arab League Council, Khemaies Jhinaoui had a series of talks with his counterparts from Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Algeria, Libya, Iraq, Palestine and Jordan.

 

Talks focused on the issues on the agenda of the Council meeting and ways and means to strengthen bilateral co-operation, said the source.
