Egypt's Dar Al Iftaa's Observatory of Islamophobia praised Tuesday statements by Pope Francis of the Vatican in which he voiced his rejection of the persecution of minority Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.

As well, Pope Francis expressed regret over the 200,000 Rohingya children who suffer as a result of this crisis.

In a statement on Tuesday, the observatory underlined the necessity of effective international moves on the levels of its institutions and bodies to stop the genocidal and ethnic cleansing operations against the Rohingya Muslims

The observatory also called on international Islamic bodies to coordinate to expose the lies of authorities in Myanmar and uncover the real situation.

It also urged Islamic institutions worldwide to move massively to provide medical and humanitarian aid for the Rohingya Muslims fleeing violence and displacement in Myanmar to Bangladesh.

It called for forming an international fact-finding committee to investigate killing and raping by security forces in Rakhine State of Myanmar against Rohingya Muslims.

Addressing Monday’s sermon in Saint Martha's church in Vatican city, Pope Francis said “Sad news has reached us of the persecution of our Rohingya brothers and sisters, a religious minority. I would like to express my full closeness to them, and let all of us ask the Lord to save them, and to raise up men and women of good will to help them, who shall give them their full rights.”

Pope Francis is scheduled to visit Myanmar during the period November 27-30 then he will visit Bangladesh, the neighboring country to which the Muslim refugees are fleeing.
