 The Indonesian Embassy in Kabul was reported to be in a safe condition following a massive car bomb blast that rocked a diplomatic district in the central part of Afghanistan's capital on Wednesday. 

Director of Indonesian Citizens Protection of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lalu Muhammad Iqbal said in a message received here on Wednesday that the Indonesian Embassy did not suffer major damage despite the location of the blast was around 1.2 kilometers from the embassy's premises.

"Although the shock wave was felt in the embassy, it did not cause any major damage," Iqbal stated.

There are 14 Indonesian citizens, comprising of the Indonesian ambassador and staffs, at the embassy and 12 other Indonesians outside the embassy.

"All of them were reported to be safe," Iqbal remarked. 

The car bomb was reported to have occurred at 08:25 am. (local time) at 17th street of Wazir Akbar Khan locality.

At least 20 people were reported to have been killed and over 300 injured in the explosion, Xinhua reported.

More than 50 vehicles were destroyed and dozens of the buildings around the site were damaged by the blast.
Dozens of the wounded were in critical conditions.

The explosive were planted in a water tanker. No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
