Two members of the US military were killed in a raid against Islamic State insurgents in Afghanistan

Two members of the US military were killed in a raid against Islamic State insurgents in Afghanistan, the Pentagon said Thursday.
The service members were killed late Wednesday in a joint operation with Afghan forces in the eastern province of Nangarhar. Another US soldier was wounded in the raid.
US forces have been conducting airstrikes for months against Islamic State positions in the province, including the use of the largest conventional bomb in its arsenal earlier this month.
