Trade and Industry Minister Tarek Qabil
Cairo - MENA

Trade and Industry Minister Tarek Qabil asserted that reaching development in the African countries is a principle that cannot be waived during the activities of the 11th ministerial conference of the World Trade Organization, scheduled to be held in Buenos Aires in December.

In his speech on Monday during the ministerial meeting of the WTO in Marrakesh, the minister said that the conference will be successful if it was keen on implementing African countries development requirements.

In a press release, Trade and Industry Ministry said that African countries have aimed, since the establishment of the WTO, to foster their participation in international trade in order to reach sustainable economic development.

The minister underlined the importance of reaching solutions for a number of stranded agriculture issues as Egypt is leading agriculture negotiations in the organization on behalf of the African group.

Egypt is keen on attracting investments in the current period, the minister said, adding that facilitating the investment process requires linking investment and developmental flows and industrial change goals that can be reached via a strong local policy.
