Jeddah - Arab Today

Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) announces an increase in the amount of entertainment programs available onboard its aircraft, offering 1,800 hours of movies, television shows, games and music options.
With the increased variety of content, guests flying with Saudia can view movies in Arabic, English, French, Italian, Spanish and German. A wide selection of international movies are also available in Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi, Korean, Mandarin and Tagalog.
Following a recently-signed agreement with Warner Brothers and FOX, an extensive selection of Hollywood programs are now available onboard.
The expanded library in the airline’s Inflight Entertainment System (IFE) includes a large selection of religious programs, Arabic cinema, action, comedy, drama, thriller, sci-fi, fantasy, animation, educational, lifestyle, business, family programs, sports, Bollywood titles and games.
In particular, a significant selection of Islamic content is available onboard Saudi (208 programs), which are sourced from the Kingdom’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance.
Additionally, a re-designed entertainment platform has been simultaneously created to complement the addition of the new content, making it seamless for guests to scroll through the categories.
Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, director general of Saudia, said: “Saudia is committed to providing all of our guests with the very latest available entertainment selections when they travel for business or leisure. We understand the importance of staying connected onboard and the airline continues to make investments to ensure that the latest industry-leading technology is available in our fleet.”
In February, Saudia was named the Best Provider for Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) at the Inflight Middle East Awards in Dubai by Aircraft Interiors Middle East (AIME).
The annual awards event recognizes airline carriers in the Middle East across various categories related to inflight interiors.
With the number of convenient options now available onboard Saudia, passengers can view a large variety of television programs and movies, listen to music, play games, surf the Internet, and stream programs onto personal devices for the duration of their flight.
On all next-generation Saudia aircraft flying to medium and long-haul destinations, Internet connectivity is available for the duration of the flight, providing our guests with the option to surf the Internet, send e-mails and connect with family and friends on social media. For First and Business Class passengers, Internet connectivity is provided on a complimentary basis.
Additional functionality available onboard includes the ability to stream content through Saudia’s Skyfi portal. Guests who prefer to stream entertainment programs offered on the IFE system onto their own devices, can do so with a simple step.
Saudia operates to four continents, covering 86 destinations (27 domestic and 59 international) from its main hubs in Riyadh and Jeddah. The airline is currently revitalizing its fleet and will have one of the youngest fleet in the world by the end of 2017, at an average of 3.75 average years.
Six new routes have been added to the airline’s route map since last year: Maldives, Munich, Ankara, Algiers, Multan, and Portsudan.
Saudia is a member of the SKYTEAM alliance and through the partnership connects guests to the alliance network of 1062 destinations in 177 countries.
