Jeddah - Arab Today

Petromin, a lubricant company offering automotive services in the Kingdom, recently organized a marathon to celebrate the company’s first year as Nissan’s Kingdom-wide authorized dealer. The event was held in collaboration with Khayrokom Charity Society in Jeddah and Jeddah Races Sports.
Petromin Marathon aims to encourage the culture of sports in society. The May 6 marathon generated a lot of interest. Over 500 participants competed in it with the racetrack ranging between 1,000 and 4,000 meters.
Participants were classified into three groups. The first winner of Petromin’s Path (for ages 18 and above) was Hassan Al-Yamy. The Youth Group’s first winner was Salman Aly Al-Ahdal. Petromin Express Path’s (junior group) first winner was Abdul Aziz Aly Muhammad.
The first 10 winners of each group were honored at a ceremony at Red Sea Mall in Jeddah on Wednesday.
All entrants who managed to complete the marathon were given a chance to participate in a lucky draw to win a Nissan Sunny car from Petromin Nissan. The winner was a seven-year-old Saudi boy, Muhannad Ameen Almuallad.
In a speech addressed on behalf of Samir Nawar, CEO of Petromin, Amro Gushaah said: “We are pleased to be here today to celebrate winners of Petromin’s first marathon that comes in line with Petromin’s first anniversary celebrations … and Petromin’s keenness on better health for everyone...
“The wide interest Petromin Marathon has received is reflected in the large numbers and enthusiasm of participants and we believe it has encouraged them to become healthier and physically active.”
He said Petromin will make efforts to develop the marathon into a big annual event and one of the top sport events in Jeddah.
