The Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has announced the promotion of Mark Willis as the new area senior vice president for the Middle East, Turkey and Africa, effective immediately.
Willis, a British citizen, has over 20 years experience in hospitality industry, including more than 15 years with Carlson Rezidor.
Willis will continue to be based in the group’s Dubai area office, given its status as one of the world’s most important travel hubs and with strong air connections to the Africa.
Willis has previously held the role of area vice president Middle East and sub-Saharan Africa from 2012 to 2015.
Federico Gonzalez-Tejera, the new president and CEO of The Rezidor Hotel Group, said: “I am very pleased to announce Willis’ promotion and his additional responsibilities for Africa, one of Carlson Rezidor’s core growth markets.
“Willis’ past experience in Africa and within Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group will help strengthen our network and increase operational synergies in the entire region, for the greater benefits of owners, employees and ultimately our guests.”
Willis said: “I feel privileged to be given this exciting new role. With the support of our talented teams in Dubai and Cape Town, I am confident that we will continue to defend our leading positions in these key growth markets.
“The unification of three important markets — Middle East, Turkey and Africa — allows us to streamline our operational and cost efficiencies and better align our commercial teams to deliver memorable moments for our guests.”
