Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts Selma Elloumi Rekik and Minister of Foreign Affairs Khémais Jhinaoui signed a framework agreement of cooperation in the field of tourism and Handicrafts.

The agreement aimed to raise awareness of investment opportunities in the fields of tourism and handicrafts and to boost exports of handicrafts, Elloumi said.

It also aimed to guarantee access to new markets for Tunisian products and allow the Tunisian diplomatic representations to provide support services to firms and public structures stemming from the Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts, the minister underlined.

She added that the services to be provided by the Foreign Department consist of guaranteeing information on foreign markets and preparing economic fact sheets on the economic juncture, in addition to providing immediate information on the provisions relating to the travel ban from the country of accreditation.

Tourism days will be organised to make known the Tunisia destination, in addition to the organisation of professional meetings and participation in specialised fairs, she said.

For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs announced that Belgium has lifted the travel ban on Tunisia, considering it to be a positive step, particularly before the visit of the Belgian Foreign Minister to Tunisia in the coming days.

The minister also said that his department has set up new criteria for the appointment of ambassadors, including the ability to promote Tunisian tourism and strengthen Tunisia's capital with the country of accreditation.

Jhinaoui also said that the means made available to the representatives of Tunisian diplomacy will be strengthened.
